Do you have a special connection to Armenian culture or language? Do you want to learn more from a talented, ambitious young Armenian? Are you interested in sharing American culture and hospitality with an Armenian student?
Consider hosting an Armenian student (or student from another country offering U.S. State Department-sponsored scholarship programs) in your US home!
Students:
Armenian students participating on the State Department scholarship program FLEX have undergone a competitive selection process in order to earn the right to represent their country in the U.S. Participants live with American host families, attend local high schools, make cultural presentations, perform volunteer community service, and participate in activities that build leadership skills and an understanding of the important components of a civil society. Students and families are supported by a local American Councils representative in their area.
Host Families:
Individuals and families interested in hosting should be able to provide their student with a safe, nurturing and primarily English-speaking home, a bed and place to study, meals and snacks, and assistance with getting acquainted with their community and transportation. Anyone can host: those with teenagers or children at home, retirees, “empty nesters,” and single parents.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact American Councils directly at , or . We can then connect you with a local representative in your area. You can also learn more about us at http://inbound.americancouncils.org/
